Context of the project
As part of its assistance programme in the Republic of Niger and its support for the Société du Patrimoine de Eaux du Niger (SPEN) in improving the drinking water supply network in the town of Diffa, the ICRC first called on SHER engineering firm to draw up a master plan and then a preliminary design for the drinking water supply system in the town of Diffa with a view to reinforcing the distribution network by 2030. On the basis of this diagnosis, the ICRC's partner in this project, the Projet d'Appui aux Réfugiés et aux Communautés d'Accueil (PARCA), financed the detailed design studies with the support of the World Bank. However, these studies have been taken over and updated by SHER as part of this project.
As part of this assignment, SHER Ingénieurs-Conseils undertook the following activities:
- Detailed design and budgeting of the hydraulic infrastructure (collection tanks, reservoirs, pumping stations, distribution system (longitudinal profiles and node specifications), transient phenomena, treatment, boreholes, inspection chambers, backfill/excavation cubic metres, etc)
- Detailed design of the energy supply, with a combination of photovoltaics, generator set, public network, etc
- Assistance with works supervision. Coordination and selection of construction companies, support during the works phase
