Context of the project
As part of the Better Training for Safer Food programme, the "EU rules applicable to the authorization and placing on the EU market of novel food produced in non-EU countries" training course presents the European Union's standards relating to the procedures for authorizing the placing on the European market of a novel food or a traditional food from a non-EU country.
The training consists of 9 three-day sessions covering the relevant aspects of the authorization and placing on the EU market of novel foods from non-EU countries. The training sessions take place across 9 countries exporting to the European market: Thailand, Jordan, India, China, Moldova, Ethiopia, Senegal, Costa Rica, Argentina.
As part of this mission, SHER Ingénieurs-Conseils (JVL Consulting) is undertaking the following activities:
Area 1: Drawing up the training plan and the content of the training sessions
The training covers the following topics:
- EU standards relating to procedures for authorizing the placing on the European market of a novel food or a traditional food from a non-EU country
- Information and practical application of EFSA (European Food Safety Agency) standards to help food business operators prepare novel food or traditional food dossiers for products to be placed on the European market
- Scope of the EU marketing authorization for the novel or traditional food
- Specific additional labelling requirements
- Post-market monitoring requirements
Area 2: Implementation of the logistical aspects of the training sessions
- Selection, coordination and briefing of the speakers
- Promotional and communication activities
- Management of travel and accommodation for participants and speakers
- Logistical arrangements and support
